Internationally renowned guitarist, keyboardist and composer Arthur Gracias, the originator of the Indo-jazz genre launches his exciting new CD Yatra (meaning Journey in Hindi language). The new compositions are based on Indian ragas and rhythms, integrated with contemporary harmonies and tones.  Gracias music is expressive, absorbing and has captured the imagination of music audiences worldwide, and has led to performances throughout the USA, UK, Europe, India, Singapore, and across Australia.

Gracias has performed alongside great legendary musicians, such as Steve Lacy (soprano sax), Steve Potts (alto sax), Herbie Hancock (pianist), Ustad Nanku Maharaj (tabla), Prof. Shymal Chatterji (sitar), Ustad Sabir Khan (tabla), S. Shekhar (mridangam), etc.  He has also scored music for award-winning feature films and documentaries, such as “Patang”, “Gudia”, “Dekha”, “Beyond The Himalayas” (music from central Asia), “Night In The Twelfth Year” (an Indo-Italian film by Sergio Scappagini), and recently “Yatra” with renowned film-maker Gautam Ghosh.

Indo-jazz is Arthur Gracias on his newly-designed 18-stringed Indo-jazz Archtop and semi-acoustic guitars and keyboard, Manoli Vouyoucalos on the acoustic bass and Mohan Sathyanath on mridangam, ghatam and ganjira. They have been performing together for a long time and contribute to the unique sounds of Indo-jazz. Special guests are Graham Wood on Piano and Greg Brenton on drums

The performance will feature compositions from the CD, and music that goes back to the Gypsy musical migration from North India to Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Spain and North Africa.
